The Dallas Cowboys are set to announce a deal for Derek Carr, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.
The team’s pursuit of Carr was one of several factors that led to the former Oakland Raiders quarterback opting to join the New York Giants.
Rapoports reported that the Raiders, who have a $100 million franchise tag, have offered Carr a five-year, $120 million contract.
Rapaport also reported that Carr will receive a $15 million signing bonus.
Rapiport also said that Carr has yet to officially sign with the Giants.
The Cowboys will have to pick up the $11.7 million franchise-tag number that Carr signed with the Raiders.
Carr is set to earn $20 million this season, with a $20.1 million base salary and $15.5 million in dead money.
Carr has also been linked to the New Orleans Saints, which is the team that will pick up his fifth-year option, if he does not reach the postseason.
Carr could be a free agent after the season.
Rap, Rapaports, and ESPN’s Mike Rodak contributed to this report.
