‘Sophie Meldrum’ stars as actress who discovers her true identity in an episode – the BBC

The BBC has picked up the latest series of Sophie Meldrums – and will premiere the drama on the BBC iPlayer in the coming days.

The series, which is based on the memoirs of Meldram, is set in New Zealand in the early 1960s and follows her as she discovers her identity, as she navigates her own personal and professional life in the aftermath of her husband’s death.

Meldram plays Mary, a retired television executive who was brought up in the capital, Auckland, and later moved to the Pacific Island nation of Tonga.

Her first series of work included the BBC’s The Unfinished Man and the BBC2 drama Stolen.

The actress has previously appeared in a number of TV shows including Big Bang Theory, The Ledge and The Big Bang.
